IMMEDIATE OPENING for a Full-time Physician – Hyperbaric Medicine at Travis Air Force Base, CA

SPECIFIC TASKS: Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Overseeing clinical hyperbaric treatment dives for routine and emergency patient care. The contract physician can recall the call team as required for emergency patient care.
• The physician shall provide patients health care that meets the standard of care while expected to manage a typical caseload of 50-60 visits per week.
• Physician will perform Hyperbaric medicine consultation to regional DoD agencies for Hyperbaric treatment and operational support.
• Conducting new and established patient evaluations, management and wound care and both outpatients and inpatients.
• Participating in and supporting Hyperbaric and wound care research protocols.
• Participating in the education and training of Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine fellows as well as other residents, medical students, nurses and medical technicians. This consists of formal and informal presentations on wound care, Undersea and Hyperbaric medicine topics within the hyperbaric clinic or during local hyperbaric courses.
• Assisting the Hyperbaric Medicine flight commander by attending various administrative meetings, providing input on policies impacting the day to day operations of the division, give both scheduled and impromptu tours of the Hyperbaric Chamber facility to visiting dignitaries, and providing educational lectures.

 Minimum Qualifications:

• Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.). Possesses a doctor of medicine degree or a doctor of osteopathy degree from an approved school of medicine or
• Education: Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States or  
• Internship/Residency/Fellowship: must have completion of formal fellowship training in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association.

Experience: Clinical experience in Hyperbaric Medicine and advanced wound care is required, a minimum of 12 months within the past 48 months (may include fellowship training). Clinical experience in critical care/emergency care is highly desirable. Previous experience as a flight surgeon is also desirable.

Board Certification: Current board certification in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine is required. Board eligibility is acceptable, if fellowship training was completed within the past 36 months. If physician has completed fellowship training within the past 36 months, he/she shall become board certified within 12 months of employment. Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine board certification shall be maintained throughout employment.

Licensure/Certification: Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
