The Hyperbaric Technical Supervisor is responsible for supervising hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy staff,their department's community outreach program, and quality improvement initiatives within the hyperbaric department. The Hyperbaric Technical Supervisor is also responsible for providing hyperbaric medicine treatments to patients in accordance with accepted protocols, clinical standards, and as prescribed by a qualified physician. Responsibilities include patient care, quality improvement initiatives, invasive and noninvasive monitoring, wound dressing changes, accurate and timely record keeping, and the safe performance of hyperbaric treatments. The Hyperbaric Technical Supervisor must be willing to perform other duties as required.
This position requires good verbal communication and administrative skills. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining necessary departmental/hospital documentation, as well as patient charting utilizing basic computer skills. There will be extensive requirements for interacting with patients, family members and clinical personnel in a professional manner.
The technical supervisor should be able to exercise initiative, utilize critical thinking skills and sound independent judgment when caring for patients within the department and when communicating with other medical professionals. He/she will on occasion be required to work in an emotionally charged environment with possible life and death ramifications, demanding high levels of concentration.
What you will do
Prepares patient for HBO treatment using the current safety and clinical protocols provided. Maintain complete and accurate patient records/charts as they pertain to treatment documentation. Perform hyperbaric chamber operations as required.
Supervises technician(s) to ensure safe and effective operation of hyperbaric chambers and related equipment.
Is the designated Safety Director for the HBO department, and participates in safety program. Reports all unusual occurrences and issues to the corporate office. Reviews departmental policies/procedures annually.
Develops, implements, and manages a community education plan and budget, utilizing local, regional, and corporate resources. Conducts community outreach to physicians and other potential referral sources.
Attends all training sessions, corporate conference calls, and meetings, including those that take place out of town. Assists with ongoing inter-departmental and hospital educational activities.
Maintain competencies, continuing education, and certifications as appropriate.
Qualifications
Experience
Previous experience as RRT, LPN, RN, Military Corpsman, EMT/Paramedic, or CHT (Required)
Attend HBO course within 6 months of employment (Required)
Licenses and Certifications
CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
ACLS Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Preferred)
Professional certification in Virginia (Required)
CHT or CHS within 1-1/2 Yrs (Required)
