Objective
The primary objective of this course is to prepare the student to establish and implement fire evacuation (egress) procedures that work. Students will gain a better knowledge of the NFPA99, Chapter 20 standards for fire protection, establish “Fire Prevention” procedures to ensure that fires cannot occur, conduct fire drills under realistic conditions and the methods to increase the “survivability” of staff and patients in a Class A chamber fire.
Who Should Attend
Certified Hyperbaric Technologists, Technicians, CHRNs, nurses, respiratory therapists, physicians and facility department managers or those who desire specific training in hyperbaric facility fire safety. Students attending this course should be prepared to participate in focused work groups and discuss procedures in place at their facilities. Students should be prepared to actively participate in “mock training” exercises that will require the student to crawl on their hands and knees in tight spaces with limited to zero visibility. Students must also understand that they will get wet during this course.
CAUTION STATEMENT: At no time will actual fire be introduced into the chamber.
Prerequisites
Due to the technical nature of this training, it is recommended that students attending this course have a strong hyperbaric background.
